The Chamber volunteers and staff are guided in their day-to day activities by our statement of Mission and Vision. Our Board of Directors are in charged of planning and implementing the strategic direction and policies needed to continue with our mandate.
Chamber Board of Directors generally meet on the first Tuesday of each month.
At the Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce we believe in proactively representing our members at all levels of government, on issues of importance to our business community.
The Board of Directors
Richard Morales, M.Eng., P.Eng. – Civil Engineer/Senior Project Manager at Parsons Inc. He obtained a master degree from the University of Toronto specializing in urban infrastructure projects. He works in Markham and has led a number of teams in the delivery of detailed design engineering services of large infrastructure. He managed design teams for the 2015 Pa Am Games venues’ civil engineering works. He also serves the community and has received awards of appreciation from Markham’s Mayor Frank Scarpitti at Special Council Meetings for his tireless work serving on the Markham Heritage Committee and the Main Street Advisory Board. In addition he served the Markham Village Music festival in the Board of Directors from 2012 to 2017. He is a vigorous member of the music community as well, he has been a musician/composer and producer of Latino music bands in Toronto since 1994.

Mrs. Monica Linares is a successful professional, Financial Advisor and community leader with extensive experience in the corporate sector and non-profit organizations. Immigrated to Canada from Colombia in 2001 and has been a Financial advisor since 2005. Monica has built a solid business, guiding her clients to Protection, Investment, Retirement Plan, and Group Benefits for Small Business, Monica has a Bachelor degree in Industrial Engineer from Javeriana University of Colombia, and is a former President of the THCC, Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, where she was a member of the Board of Directors since 2006. Currently Monica is the THCC’s representative to the Latin Chamber of Commerce of USA, CAMACOL where she represents the only Canadian Latin business organization at important trading events. She is the President of Hispanic Canadian Heritage Council, HCHC.
Elena Jara is the Education Coordinator for Credit Canada. She has been with Credit Canada for 18 years and has held many different positions within the organization and received a Bachelor degree from York University and her Bankruptcy Insolvency Certificate from Ryerson University; she has led a significant number of financial education workshops to organizations such as colleges, universities and a variety of community agencies. She is credited for helping coordinate “Credit Education Week Canada,” which is now in its 5th year. She helped develop and continues to oversee the “Credit Education Week Canada” website. Elena has appeared on Global TV, CTV, and has been featured in the Toronto Star, The Globe & Mail and The Toronto Sun. Elena is a board member for Credit Association of Greater Toronto, and the Downview Legal Clinic.
Jaime Gonzalez – Colombian, Exceptional PMP and Senior Business Consultant with 20+ years of experience as liaison between IT and lines of business, implementing medium to large scale IT projects for financial and insurance institutions in Canada and Latin America. Assertive communicator and effective manager able to build and empower teams to deliver with excellence. Active volunteer and community leader in professional organizations, co-founder and former president of LPMN, Latin Project Management Network, a professional organization focused on leadership development and career advancement of PMs and BAs in the GTA.
Magda de la Torre is the founder of Matiz Communications Inc. in Miami, Florida. A leading media and communications company specializing in the field of trade, culture, tourism and communications consulting sector within the Americas. They are a minority-owned marketing and promotional group created by dedicated and passionate professionals specializing in The Americas market. We understand the complex of the cultural diversity, fundamental nature and spirit of the people in The Americas. VISION: To be leaders in creating innovative, unique and intuitive marketing programs executed with specific targets that will unite and enhance the trade between Canada and The Americas.

Rene Immigrated to Canada from Mexico in 2013, he immediately gained Canadian experience working for one of the mayor private career colleges in Ontario, and then moved forward to gain international experience in Canada working for a French engineering and manufacturing company as the America’s sales Director, his path is followed by a move to the immigration law world where he leads a team of immigration consultants in offering representation, training and consultation
Luis Briceno is originally from Caracas-Venezuela and moved to Toronto with his family in 2001. Luis proudly became a Canadian citizen in 2006. He also became a licensed Real Estate Agent over 10 years ago, convinced of the fact that his experience could be of value to the understanding of cultural gaps in favour of his clients – in many cases new comers to this great-but-demanding city such as he used to be once. Prior to joining the world of Real Estate, Luis had the opportunity to work in the corporate environment and more specifically for Fortune 500 companies such as Nestlé Venezuela, British American Tobacco, IBM Canada, TD Canada, and Corby. Luis is very proud of being part of a community with an extraordinary sense of entrepreneurship such as the Latin-American. Zamira Tactuk – Dominican Republic, is a passionate young professional that started as a volunteer at the Toronto Hispanic Chamber of Commerce to help deliver successful events and currently is the chair of events in the organization. She is highly motivated to excel in a career in Event Planning. She has a Bachelor’s degree in PUCMM in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. Janeth Lara – Colombian, Executive manager working in 4 different countries for more than 20 years and passionate about people, improvement and processes.
